She had me at "Tyler turned away from me like my cat does after a visit to the vet." I read this book as a favor to my daughter...surprise surprise, I enjoyed the hell out of it! I stopped looking for cliches to roll my eyes over after about 10 pages (I didn't find any) and figured, why not? Just enjoy it. And so I did. Laura Kennedy Bell dragged me kicking and screaming into the world of a teenage girl...what a marvelous trip to an unknown and unknowable place! This book is a boatload of fun and will take you out of the problems of your own life and into a wondrous world where making out in the back seat of a convertible is at the top of the list of fun activities. A good book for an airport day. Easy, fun.
Laura Kennedy's Surf Shop Sisters is a refreshing look at innovative teen age girls who follow their hearts but not necessarily their heads - and in the end they have had a great time. Girls will be girls! A great summer read.
Very funny and a good plot twist at the end.
Teens and preteens will enjoy this story during Spring Break or the summer. Kennedy uses realistic dialogue of the youth today. Refreshing and fun.
Snappy dialogue and fast paced plot make this such an enjoyable read. What makes Kennedy stand out in the YA world is her humor and distinctive voice.
Laura Kennedy has done it again, this time with teenagers who behave like teenagers, which means trouble. Except Kennedy knows how to plunge them into BIG trouble, the kind of things you remember from your own teenage years, like scheming how to outwit parents and getting caught anyway, and that nasty little girl you still want to punch in the nose. I loved every page of this book.
